Side Tables (that aren’t boring)
My favourite addition to any space has to be an interesting side table. They can be small, but mighty. And they don’t need to match the other furniture (no coffee table + side table sets required). They should ultimately complement the other pieces, while still making a statement of their own. If you’re wanting antique or vintage, Facebook Marketplace or Etsy are great sources. And bonus — due to their small size, side tables are usually easy to ship if you’re shopping online. Let’s not forget about local retailers, such as thrift shops, antique stores, and furniture stores. Here’s a few of my favourite side table options — all under $500.
WOOD Side Tables
To start things off, let’s talk about wood. It can add warmth and texture to a space. Wood furniture is also readily available, making it an easy choice when selecting a side table. That doesn’t mean it has to be boring though. Aim for something with an interesting shape, texture, or sense of history (aka antique or vintage).
NATURAL STONE Side Tables
Natural stone always feels more high-end to me. The good news is, natural stone is being used more in furniture design and there are many accessible options at lower price points.
METAL Side Tables
Let’s end things off with my personal favourite — metal. I love a metal side table, because it’s a bit less common. They can lean more modern or traditional, depending on the shape and finish. If you want to play around with different design styles in your space, this can be an easy way. Metal side tables can also add a rustic element, without looking tacky.
I feel like I’m just scratching the surface here in this post. There are so many great options available — I feel another blog post coming on! What’s your favourite side table?
